SWIM MEET VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

POSITION

DESCRIPTION

ALL MEETS:

Timer

Responsible for capturing swimmers' times using stopwatches and recording the time on the heat sheets.  Timers will be paired up with another timer from the opposing team and assigned to a lane. 
All timers will need to check in with the Head Timer prior to the meet and will need to attend the Timer's meeting which is held 15 min. prior to the start of the meet.

Ready Bench

Responsible for writing event, heat, and lane assignments on swimmer's arms prior to meet and assembling swimmers into their correct heat and lane throughout the meet.  Familiarity with team members is a plus.

Ribbon Distributor / Maker

Ribbon Distributor - Responsible for distributing ribbons to swimmers after each race.  All swimmers will receive an unofficial ribbon based on their placement of the race (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.).  You will be paired up with another ribbon distributor from the opposing team.

Ribbon Maker (Home Meets Only) - Responsible for making official swim meet ribbons by applying labels to ribbons and sorting ribbons by swimmer's names.  Labels will be printed throughout the meet by the Data Entry volunteer.

Deck Runner

Responsible for collecting completed heat sheets from the timers and taking them to the data entry / scoring table throughout the meet in a timely fashion.

HOME MEETS ONLY:

Announcer / Event Tracker

Responsible for Announcing the start and end of the meet as well as each event and heat.  Also keeps the event/heat tracker updated throughout the meet.

Snow Cone Stand / Food Booth

Responsible for manning the concession and snow cone stands.

During home meets, we need several volunteers to help set up before the meet and clean up afterwards.
